Land Rover Defender  Professional Power Upgrade

Unlock the latent performance engineered into your Land Rover Defender. The new Defender is undeniably the most capable Land Rover ever produced; however, for homologation and marketing reasons, its advanced Ingenium powertrain is often electronically limited from the factory. JLR Retrofit offers a professional, software-based Land Rover Defender power upgrade solution that safely unleashes your Defender’s true performance potential, resulting in a more responsive, powerful, and rewarding driving experience.

Our bespoke ECU (Engine Control Unit) calibration service is designed specifically for the L663 Defender platform, respecting the complex engineering and safety parameters set by Land Rover. Consequently, you receive an upgrade that delivers not just more power, but smarter, more efficient power delivery across the entire rev range.

Key Benefits of the JLR Retrofit Power Upgrade

By recalibrating the engine’s control software, we can optimize fuel, boost pressure, and ignition timing maps. This meticulous process yields significant advantages without compromising the legendary reliability you expect from a Land Rover.

• Increased Horsepower and Torque: Experience a substantial and tangible increase in both power (PS) and torque (Nm). This enhancement makes overtaking, towing, and off-road manoeuvres feel effortless.
• Improved Drivability and Throttle Response: We refine the throttle mapping for a sharper, more immediate response. As a result, the vehicle feels more connected and agile in all driving conditions.
• Optimized Power Band: Our calibration broadens the torque curve, providing stronger pulling power from lower RPMs and maintaining it through the mid-range for a smoother, more linear acceleration.
• Maintained OEM Safety Parameters: Crucially, all original manufacturer safety limiters for engine and transmission components are respected. Our tuning operates within the safe hardware tolerances of the powertrain, ensuring long-term durability.
• Seamless Integration: The upgrade is purely electronic and integrates flawlessly with all existing vehicle systems, including the transmission control unit (TCU) and terrain response systems.

Engine-Specific Calibration Programmes

We tailor our software for each specific Ingenium engine variant. Furthermore, we can often upgrade your Defender to match the performance of higher-specification models that use identical core engine hardware.

Defender D250 / D300 Ingenium Diesel Upgrades

The 3.0L Ingenium straight-six diesel engine is a masterpiece of engineering. In many cases, the D250 is an electronically detuned version of the D300. Our calibration can safely unlock this factory-restricted performance.

• D250 to D300/D320 Upgrade: Elevate your D250’s performance to match or, in fact, exceed that of a factory D300. Expect significant gains in torque that transform the vehicle’s driving dynamics.
• D300 to D350+ Upgrade: For D300 owners, we can further optimize the ECU parameters to achieve performance levels akin to the D350 models found in the Range Rover line, providing a formidable increase in power.

Defender P400 Ingenium Petrol Tuning

The powerful P400 3.0L straight-six petrol engine provides a superb foundation for performance enhancement. Our tuning for the P400 focuses on sharpening its already impressive character, therefore improving throttle response and delivering a more aggressive power delivery when demanded, all while maintaining smooth refinement for daily driving.

Technical Specifications & Performance Figures

The following figures are indicative. Actual gains may vary based on vehicle condition, fuel quality, and ambient factors.

Engine Model	Stock Power (Approx.)	Stock Torque (Approx.)	Tuned Power (Approx.)	Tuned Torque (Approx.)
Defender D250	249 PS	570 Nm	300-320 PS	650-680 Nm
Defender D300	300 PS	650 Nm	340-350 PS	700-720 Nm
Defender P400	400 PS	550 Nm	440-450 PS	600-620 Nm

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

• Is this upgrade safe for my engine and transmission?
Absolutely. Our core philosophy is safe and reliable tuning. We operate well within the mechanical tolerances of the powertrain components. Moreover, we adjust torque limiters to ensure the ZF 8-speed automatic transmission continues to operate smoothly and reliably.
• Will this affect my Land Rover warranty?
Any modification to a vehicle’s ECU may potentially affect its manufacturer powertrain warranty. However, our process is discreet and in many cases reversible to the factory standard file for service visits. We recommend discussing warranty implications with us directly.
• How will fuel economy be affected?
This depends heavily on your driving style. With the significant increase in torque, the engine is under less strain during normal driving. Consequently, many clients report no change, or even a slight improvement in fuel economy during typical cruising conditions.
• How long does the process take?
The entire process, including diagnostics and road testing, typically takes between 2 to 4 hours. You are welcome to wait in our customer lounge or leave the vehicle with us.
